Steve Slifer has the pipes in and the calliope working again. It is an interesting home made device that turns out to be very complicated. The energy source is a blower motor attached with a vacuum hose. Pipes have stops inside and whistle when opened by pressing the keyboard. Inside there are hand carved wooden hammers attached to fish line and sinkers. It's quite fun to play with.

The Historical Society was the recipient of a $5,000 grant from Snake River Pool and Spa, Blue Lakes Inn and the Paxton family. The money will be used to create a self guided walking tour of the Museum grounds. We hope to begin this project in the next few weeks. Signs will be placed in designated sections, with a pamphlet that explains the display and gives more information.
The Twin Falls County Historical Society is looking for a person to "host" the museum. This is a paid, part time position, that could work out really well for the right person. Hours are noon to five, Tuesday through Saturday, year around. You would be responsible for opening and closing the museum during these hours. Cleaning and sanitizing are some of the job duties, along with answering the telephone, responding to email, giving tours and information, greeting patrons, and working with volunteers.
