After much procrastination, work has begun on the large auxiliary building that is home to the fire truck, steam tractor, ice wagons and other larger items. The plan is to have the new roof, siding and doors done by May 15. The museum is open, but we may not be able to open the metal building while they are working. When all is ready we will have a grand opening!
The museum will go on regular hours the 14th of March. We will be open from noon until five p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. You can still can for an appointment if you'd like to come out before the 14th. Someone is usually around to help you.
March 14th is the date chosen to have your pictures scanned for possible publication in the "Magic Valley Memories Volume II." Bob Reitz from Pedimont Publishing will be here at the museum, looking for photographs of the Magic Valley area. This volume will feature photographs from the 1930's through the 50's. The book is a hard backed, coffee table style edition of photographs featuring families, community events, historical occassions, transportation, and other interesting depictions of the Magic Valley. Photographs should be good quality black and white and the clearer the image the better the scan can be. Size may not be an issue, but thumbnails will not generally enlarge well enough to publish.
If you would like to see your photos in a quality produced publication, come out between noon and two o'clock. You should be able to provide Bob with information regarding the subject of the photo and general time frame in which it was taken. For every three of your photographs used, the publisher will give you a complimentary copy of the finished book. |
